Recorded in November 2019 by Didier Leplae at Mathwiz Music in Milwaukee. Concentric Circles, recorded at the same time as the Lowland Hymns ep, continues on with songs that crawl through despair, build towards hope, and ultimately spiral into the murky distance from whence they came. Simultaneously sad and beautiful, mournful and uplifting, the Old Northwest constructs a soundtrack for a world crumbling at our own hands. With Jacob Sutrick dropping the bass and taking on full time lap steel guitar this EP documents a new direction for the band. All compositions here are improvised pieces recorded in one take live in the room with no sound separation. Utilizing Didier Leplae's mastermind in on the fly recording, and indulging in his massive wall-sized plate reverb The Old Northwest once again tap into the hypnotic dark undertones of our time.
This recording contains a reworking of Oh How We Lived and The Dredging, both from their previously released Ghost Tree ep, now with slide guitar replacing the bass.
